India is a country with great wealth, a strong constitution, and a large, young population. Yet, despite these advantages, development seems slow. I once asked my boss why this is the case, and he gave an answer that really made me think: he said it’s because of religion.
According to him, countries built around religious ideologies often struggle with development. This perspective resonated with me, as I’ve observed that religion can be a source of division and conflict rather than unity and progress. I sometimes wish there were no religious practices that could lead to such disputes, instead of people fighting over religious differences.
Sometimes, it feels like the focus on religion causes more problems than it solves. Many people in India are very sensitive about their religious beliefs. They often refuse to see facts and are easily influenced by religious leaders. This manipulation is not accidental—politicians exploit these religious sentiments for their own gain.
Politicians use religion to keep people divided and distracted. They spread hatred and make money by playing on people’s faith. It’s heartbreaking to see how this manipulation prevents progress. Even though people can hear the truth and understand it, they often ignore it because they are blinded by religious biases.
For India to truly move forward, we need to recognize and address the ways religion is used in politics.
