The main issue today is that many men these days seem fragile and are looking for reasons to degrade women. Every day, women face numerous challenges, yet no one seems to care, especially men. When something bad happens to men, they post about how "men are also victims," discussing issues like alimony, fake rape cases, and how men are unable to express themselves emotionally. However, this isn't about men vs. women; it's about what is right and what is wrong.
Men these days often cry and blame society for making them emotionally suppressed, but women are expected to be emotionally available, to cry, and still carry on with life. We deal with period pain, pregnancy, hormonal changes, and a range of other physical and emotional burdens, all while managing to work and support our families. Despite all of this, some men complain, yet do less, and focus more on debating with women rather than taking action.
When it comes to dowry and alimony, dowry is a clear issue. It involves giving large sums of money, cars, and gifts to the groom’s family without any justification, which is wrong. The groom hasn't done anything to deserve these gifts. On the other hand, alimony, while also a sensitive issue, can be justified in certain situations, especially if a woman hasn’t earned anything. In many cases in India, women are housewives, taking care of their home, children, and in-laws. If a divorce happens in such a situation, the wife should have the right to alimony because she hasn't been financially independent. However, if both partners are working and earning equally, then alimony shouldn't be necessary, unless there is a legal agreement in place.
Men who claim that if alimony is legal, dowry should be legal too, need to mature and understand that both issues are different. We need to stop focusing on men vs. women and instead focus on fairness, responsibility, and understanding that everyone, regardless of gender, faces their own struggles.
